2 key questions to help you tackle Covid and grow your business

By Vegard Olsen

We’re going through times of uncertainty and times where many factors outside us remains to be out of our control.

A key learning for anyone who has ever engaged in team or leadership development is to focus on what you can control, and let go of what’s not in your control.

From our perspective, in these times we are being challenged to grow and elevate as leaders to deal with the current situation in the best possible way.

If the things outside us wont change – well then certainly – we can change.

Here are 2 powerful questions to help you strengthen your leadership balance, elevate your leadership and grow your work and business:

1 – What am I currently not allowing myself to be, that if I did, would make a big difference to the my work and my business?

Maybe it’s being more direct. Maybe it’s micromanaging more. Maybe it’s taking a step back and relaxing. Whatever comes to you as an answer to this questions, is what will help you most to strengthen your leadership balance right now. And since things in balance grow, this is one of the most valuable things you can do for your work and your business right now.

The key here is thinking ´a little bit´. How would allowing myself a little bit of this help me to deal with my biggest challenges right now?

It would probably take off some pressure, help you think clearly and make the right decisions for your work in these very challenging times.

2 – You can call me a lot as a leader, but I’m definitely not…

What would your answer to this question be? Again, think leadership balance here. The things we refuse the most to be or the things we see ourselves as the opposite of, is also where we can grow the most as leaders.

It doesn´t mean we’re going to change personality and become someone completely different than who we are or go completely against our values, but in what we oppose lies the keys to our growth as leaders.

So the key here is to reflect on:
How can allowing myself to be a little bit more of this help me right now. Maybe you would benefit from being a little bit less friendly so you can remain professional, think clearly and make key decisions for your business. Or maybe it’s important for you to be a little bit more arrogant, so that you can keep believing in yourself and your business more strongly during these times.

The key here is to reflect differently, challenging your mindset, and open up to the possibility that a little bit of the traits you oppose can actually help you right now with some very critical decisions.

I can only tell you this – challenging yourself, going outside of the comfort zone – and taking even one small step in the direction of the answers to these questions WILL leave you feeling more confident and WILL also move you forward with whatever is most critical in your business at the moment.
